“I put up my class schedule up on the bulletin board so we can plan accordingly,” Blaine says as he flits about the room, rearranging random things. “I was thinking we could do bunk beds? It always for more floor space and I like the top bunk because heat rises and I get really, really cold at night.” He shakes his head. “Gosh, I know what you’re thinking. Neurotic roommate! Get me out! But seriously, Kurt, I’m a really awesome roommate. I have references.”
Kurt wonders if he will eventually run out of steam. So far, it’s not looking like it’s likely.
“And if you ever need alone time, just let me know. It can be a little weird, living with someone else. Not for me! Three and a half years at boarding school will do that to you, you know? Well, not that you would know. McKinley, right? That’s so cool! We could try to take our flights back to Ohio together!”
“Yeah—”
“Oh! Speaking of alone time, if you are ever going to have company, at least send me a text to warn me. The sock on the door trick never works.” He cups his hand to his face and leans towards Kurt before stage whispering - “People move the socks!”
Kurt feels his cheeks heat up. “Um, well—”
“No lucky lady? No worries! The girls across the hall are pretty cute, unless that’s not your bag. No judgement here!”
Kurt squints at the other boy. Does private school erase the ability to recognize social cues?
Blaine is quiet, and blinking at him expectantly.
Oh, so now he’s allowed to talk.
“I’m… gay, yes.”
“Cool!” Blaine doesn’t seem bothered in the least. He’s acting much like Kurt just mentioned the state of the weather or the cafeteria selections for the day. Kurt isn’t sure if he’s ever going to get used to these sort of reactions. “So, have you put any thought into what clubs you’re joining? I know freshman year is kind of nuts, but that’s hardly an excuse not to be active in extracurriculars!”
“I um, not really…”
“Me too, by the way,” he says, ducking his head in an seemingly uncharacteristic display of shyness.
“Excuse me?”
“I’m gay, too. I was going to say something after you did, but I kind of get a little… overexcited sometimes?”
Kurt gives him a fond smile. “You don’t say.”
Blaine Anderson came into his life in a flurry of excitement and bow ties, and he’s almost positive that this is going to be a good thing.

It started out with a kiss.
It had started at Rachel Berry’s Trainwreck House Party Extravaganza.
Just a stupid twist of fate in which Kurt and Blaine had been selected to kiss during Spin The Bottle.
Everyone had laughed and cheered and edged them on and the two had rolled their eyes and gone for it.
The kiss…well, it was messy and sloppy because they were drunk, but that hadn’t stopped Blaine from clutching Kurt closer or Kurt from whimpering against Blaine’s lips.
